FEBRUARY 3, 2019

At the beginning of a new year, we often ask questions like: What should I do about me?

But, what if we started asking: What needs to be done around me? In your community, city, neighborhood, people, world?

The overarching question we are asking is about us making a significant impact in the lives of others :: What breaks your heart?

If you really want to become a better person, do something to make the world a better place.

Maybe you don’t’ know what breaks your heart, or maybe you don’t know what to do about your broken heart.

“Then I said to them, ‘You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace’”. – Nehemiah 2:17 NIV

Rebuilding the wall provided: a safe community, a better community, and a place to live.

“I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, ‘Let us start rebuilding.’ So they began this good work.” – Nehemiah 2:18 NIV

“Above the Horse Gate, the priests made repairs, each in front of his own house.” – Nehemiah 3:28 NIV

“Next to them, Zadok son of Immer made repairs opposite his house. Next to him, Shemaiah son of Shekaniah, the guard at the East Gate, made repairs.” – Nehemiah 3:29 NIV

“Next to him, Hananiah son of Shelemiah, and Hanun, the sixth son of Zalaph, repaired another section.” – Nehemiah 3:30 NIV

“Next to them, Meshullam son of Berekiah made repairs opposite his living quarters.” – Nehemiah 3:30 NIV

Their occupation didn’t influence their involvement.

Their conviction didn’t influence their engagement.

When they didn’t know where to work, they worked on what was in front of them.

What’s in front of you?

The church is where people find: safety, community, and life. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, also the life.” If the church is the light of the world, where is your light shining?

At Polaris Church, we have a spot for you.

  • Relational: leading groups or serving as a mentor

  • Technical: running audio, video, lighting, or parking

  • Social: welcoming, hosting and connecting people

So…. What’s in front of you?
