starting point: what can wash away my sin?
sunday, April 29, 2018
We all wrestle with the guilt and shame of our past from time to time.
Despite our best efforts we cannot seem to wash away our own sin.
“The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him.”
Mark 1:5 NIV
“I baptize with water,” John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. He is the one who comes after me, the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”
John 1:26-27 NIV
“Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”
John 1:29 NIV
Jesus came to lift and carry away the guilt and shame of our sin. He became the sacrifice.
“He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; He has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.”
Colossians 2:13-14 NIV
You don’t have to forgive yourself.
Yourself has already been forgiven.
