“You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” – Matthew 16:16 NIV
“…and on this rock I will build my church.” – Matthew 16:18 NIV
Ecclesia is the original Greek word intended to mean a Gathering, an Assembly, a Congregation
The word “church” got mistranslated and therefore misunderstood from a German word meaning, “House of the Lord”.
The problem with this is that Jesus did not predict or intend a place – He predicted and intended a people.
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.” – Matthew 28:18 NIV
"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations… And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” – Matthew 28:19-20 NIV
After a season of the true and intended church growing and multiplying…The movement stopped moving and the gathering stopped growing.
God chose to use a very unlikely person at the time – to Renew and Re-engage, the church in its intended purpose – the Apostle Paul. Read Acts 9 for more of Paul’s story.
People have read Paul’s letters in over 1,200 different languages.
Jesus predicted and promised that “…I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” – Matthew 16:18
The question to wrestle with is :: What is your next step?
