What do you think about when you think about the church

The Ch _ _ ch

A movement of people on mission together for the world.

The Ch U R ch

At the center of all this, Christ rules the church. The church, you see, is not peripheral to the world; the world is peripheral to the church. The church is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence. – Ephesians 1:23 MSG

Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. – Acts 2:46-47 NIV

Then Peter said, “Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. – Acts 3:6,8 NIV

“You killed the author of life, but God raised him from the dead. We are witnesses of this…Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord,” - Acts 3:15,19 NIV

But many who heard the message believed; so the number of men who believed grew to about five thousand. – Acts 4:4 NIV

They had Peter and John brought before them and began to question them: “By what power or what name did you do this?” – Acts 4:7 NIV

“then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” – Acts 4:10,12 NIV

When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus. But since they could see the man who had been healed standing there with them, there was nothing they could say. – Acts 4:13-14 NIV

“As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.” – Acts 4:20 NIV

“Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness. Stretch out your hand to heal and perform signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.” – Acts 4:29-30 NIV

Give us boldness

To speak & act

In the name of Jesus

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them (ordinary people) that there were no needy persons among them. – Acts 4:32-34 NIV

What if?

Your body cooperated with your heart & mind

What if?

The church is a movement of ordinary people following Jesus, as His companions, speaking and acting in His name all over the world.

The chURch is Christ’s body, in which he speaks and acts, by which he fills everything with his presence. – Ephesians 1:23 MSG

What if?

We prayed like this and loved like this – every day?

Heavenly Father,

Please give us boldness

to speak and act

in the name of Jesus.
